The World Cup is a big deal at the Beijing company that sent around the following notice:

Notice is made of the following:
1. During the World Cup, the start of work will be delayed from 9:00 am to 10:30.
2. Red Bull has been added to the company's refreshment room for employees to revitalize themselves. However, quantities are limited to two bottles per person per day. Please observe this rule when you drink.
3. During the World Cup, the company will run a prediction contest. Competitors will guess the champion, and the contest winner will be awarded an XBox (check your email for participation details).
4. During the World Cup, every day on which Brazil has a game, the company will organize a group to watch the game at the Goose and Duck, and will cover all drinks (those interested in taking part should apply with Xu Li in Administration before June 11).
5. If Brazil becomes the champion, the entire company will dine at the Golden Jaguar! (on the evening of July 12).

Empty Your Desktop

Create a Safely Remove Hardware shortcut
I just reformated my computer once again, and as usual I prefer an empty desktop with no icons and no taskbar, just ObjectDock Pro shown. One very important shortcut on the taskbar will be hidden too if I want to empty them all and that is Safely Remove Hardware shortcut located at the System Tray. If I hide everything, I wont be able to disconnect my removable hard drive properly. I have to put this shortcut onto ObjectDock. So, to create the shortcut:

Right-click on the desktop, select 'New' and then 'Shortcut'. For the item location, copy and paste the following:

RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL HotPlug.dll

Then click 'Next'. Call the shortcut 'Safely Remove Hardware', and you are done. If you want to make it look better, right-click the icon, choose 'Properties' and then the 'Shortcut' tab, click on 'Change Icon' and in the 'Look for icons' box type:

%windir%\system32\HotPlug.dll

The first icon in this file matches the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon so you'll be able to recognise it.

Remove Recycle Bin

Go to START > RUN and copy and paste the following:

GPEDIT.MSC

Navagate to USER CONFIGURATION > ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES > Click on DESKTOP,

On the right hand pane find "Remove Recycle Bin icon on the desktop" , double left click on it and ENABLE it.

[Animal specialist Andrei] Neuronov says there are some 500 strays that live in the metro stations, especially during the colder months, but only about 20 have learned how to ride the trains. This happened gradually, first as a way to broaden their territory. Later, it became a way of life. “Why should they go by foot if they can move around by public transport?” he asks.

“They orient themselves in a number of ways,” Neuronov adds. “They figure out where they are by smell, by recognising the name of the station from the recorded announcer’s voice and by time intervals. If, for example, you come every Monday and feed a dog, that dog will know when it’s Monday and the hour to expect you, based on their sense of time intervals from their ­biological clocks.”
